If you're not confident in your writing skills, this course will help you to understand the rules and conventions of writing and allow you to develop your writing and editing skills. After completing this course, you'll understand how to apply the rules of grammar, use the right words and construct coherent prose.


What will you learn?

While studying, you will assess case studies and complete a range of interactive and written tasks based on real-world examples.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand:

  • Grammar: The differences between speech, sentences, clauses, active and passive verbs, prepositions and how to use them, as well as common grammar mistakes and rules.
  • Punctuation: How to use punctuation marks, commas, apostrophes, hyphens, italics, and identify exceptions to the rules.
  • Word choice: Plain English, how to choose the right words, how to rid your writing of redundant words and avoid clichés, and how to identify and avoid common spelling mistakes.
  • Crafting sentences and paragraphs: How to write effective sentences and combine them to create a paragraph, when to start a new paragraph, and how to display a list correctly.
