Building Controls and Energy Management Systems
This is an all-in-one guide to building controls and building energy management systems (BEMS).
By gathering data from sensors that track occupancy, temperature, pressure and humidity, a BEMS coordinates the operation of various systems such as boilers, air handing units and fans. It then uses the data to create and retain a comfortable indoor environment in occupied areas of the building.
This GPG was first published by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) which became the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) on 12 November 2018. It is currently branded as BIFM and is in the process of being rebranded to IWFM.
