North Region raise £20,000 for the Rainbow Trust

Fundraising cheque

The North Region run a successful Charity Ball on a yearly basis and this year was no exception. Sarah Marles and group Chair, Mark Muncaster, co-organise the event and, together, chose its charity. This year, the event supported the Rainbow Trust.

The Rainbow Trust support families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life threatening or terminal illness and are in the greatest need. The charity's Family Support Workers provide a lifeline to these families and children, and support the whole family, including parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers, sisters and grandparents. Any family can receive support from the moment of their child or young person's diagnosis.

This year's North Ball raised £20,400 for the Rainbow Trust. This is one of the highest figures raised to date; in 2018 the event raised £17,400 for prostate cancer and, in 2017, over £13,000 for Alzheimer’s research.

Mark Muncaster said of this year's North Ball: "We were overwhelmed with the support for the Rainbow Trust, a fantastic cause that really makes a difference. All I can say is a special thank you to all those who attended the North Ball, which is always an enjoyable evening for a brilliant cause, and thank you to everyone who donated, and our charity sponsors."

Chris Moriarty, Head of Insight and Engagement at IWFM, added: "The North Ball is an exceptional showcase of the difference our communities and their respective events can make in building communities and working towards a joint cause. The Rainbow Trust is an incredibly important cause, and we're very proud that the North Region was able to raise over £20,000 for the charity."

We wish congratulations to Sarah, Mark and the entire North Region for this exceptional achievement.
