While studying, you will assess case studies and complete a range of interactive and written tasks based on real-world examples.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand:

  • Innovation: How innovation is defined and why it's important, different types of innovation, sources of innovation, how innovation differs from everyday strategy, how to become an innovator, and how innovation fits within your organisation.
  • Context and theory: How innovation affects the outside world, key theories of innovation, how organisations can encourage innovation, how to handle the financial challenges of innovation, and external incentives available to innovative business projects.
  • Ideas and opportunity: How to generate ideas and opportunity, tools that support innovation, where to find inspiration, how to run a successful brainstorming session, how to evaluate and select appropriate ideas, how to talk about your ideas, and how to bring ideas to life and get results.
  • Implementation: What makes a great idea work in practice, how to tailor ideas to your organisation, how to assess and avoid risk in an innovative project, how to identify an acceptable level of risk, and what to do if your organisation doesn't want to take the risk.

How long is it for?

Study time is equivalent to four CPD hours.
