You may be a data whizz, but is your audience? Explore how to best communicate numerical data to all audiences.

Is it for you?

You may work with numbers every day, but do you know how to communicate numerical data to others? If not, this course is for you. It will give you the skills you need to showcase numerical information in a way that makes it accessible to everyone involved.

What will you learn?

While studying, you will assess case studies and complete a range of interactive and written tasks based on real-world examples.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand:

  • Taking a critical approach to data: What types of data you need to know about, differences between data and information/knowledge, how data can be manipulated for different purposes, how to interrogate other people's data, and the basics of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Selecting and interpreting data: How to decide what data to share and what you need to know about the data before sharing, what methods to use to share data and information for decision-making purposes, how to present data in written documents and presentations, visual tools that make data easier to digest, and how to handle ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Using data to persuade and influence: What you need to think about when using data to persuade and influence, how data can be used to win support, how to tell engaging stories and build a convincing argument using data, and how to handle questions and concerns about data.
