Building safety latest: Government consulting industry on the use of combustible materials

The Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government is seeking views on the ban on the use of combustible materials in and on external walls of buildings. The scope of the consultation includes: the building types covered, height thresholds, the list of exemptions, attachments such as blinds, shutters and awnings, and a proposal to specifically ban the use of metal composite panels in and on the external walls of all buildings.

As part of the consultation, the Government has published its review of the effectiveness of the one year ban on combustible materials it announced alongside the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2018
