Mega-trend three: The future of work (Rt Hon Camilla Cavendish plus live Q&A)

50 mins, Afternoon session

The rise of tech and robots, shifting demographics, and most recently the impact of a global pandemic: for years, and through various prisms, people have thought and written about the future of work. Is it an activity or a destination? What do we want from work? What does it need from us? Our lives are longer and mostly healthier than at any other time in history. The hundred year life is now a reality, and the workforce will soon span five generations. Galvanizing Gen Z really matters, but what about those who remain active and productive past three score and ten? How might skills and careers become life-long projects centred around personal values rather than notions of climbing the career ladder? As many jobs are threatened by automation and what does this mean, economically?
