Overview
The IWFM Technology Special Interest Group (SIG) has launched a programme of regular, monthly Roadshow events, focused on “technology and digitalisation issues in the FM Sector”.
Scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month, starting on 13 September 2023, it will become a hybrid mix of live and virtual activities, with participative polls, tech-centric tours and punchy presentations. We will be exploring the latest tech-based innovations, digital-centric standards and new regulations impacting our profession’s specialist sector.
Post-event discussions, polls and feedback will take place on the IWFM Technology SIG’s LinkedIn Group chat and we intend to publish recordings for those unable to join us live on each date.
More information
As a novel protocol, the event’s location will change each month so, during the IWFM Technology SIG’s Roadshow campaign, we’ll be visiting academic campuses and corporate workplaces from Dundee to Dubai, London to Liverpool and beyond. Partner IWFM Communities (Regions, SIGs and Networks) will be invited to co-host and participate, with spotlight sessions for unsung tech-savvy heroes (often the campus FM teams themselves!). We’ll also be hearing from students at FM-teaching universities about hot research topics, ensuring each event is stimulating and interesting, with healthy Q&A sessions and no hype.
Should you want to sharpen up your Tech-Speak knowledge prior to the event, please see Gordon Mitchell’s 1 June 2023 post on BSI’s Digital Standards for FM, available on LinkedIn. Topics within include descriptions of the outputs from CEN/TC 348/WG 6 (Space measurement in FM), CEN/TC 348/WG 10 FM (Digital Transformation), and ISO/TC 267/WG 6 (Digital, Data and Technology). If the very existence of these three groups is a surprise, or of specific interest to you, then this event is ideal for you!
By participating in such live events, or perhaps even by becoming involved in one of the UK (BSI) or European (CEN) or International (ISO) Working Groups, you will have a rare opportunity to help steer FM’s use of data and technology, and help form the future of digital facilities management, throughout the design and operational phases of a facility’s whole life cycle.
