In the lead up to our AGM, I’m very pleased to share with you the IWFM Annual Review for the year 2024.

2024 was a strong year for the Institute, which would not have been possible without the hard work of our dedicated IWFM staff, our community of volunteers and our faithful membership base. Your dedication, your expertise and your commitment to our profession continues to inspire us, and I want to thank you all for your support as IWFM goes from strength to strength.

In this second year of our three-year growth strategy, our focus has been on expanding our learning and development portfolio, showing the profession’s impact and launching new initiatives aimed at employers and teams.

Building on the foundations laid in year one, we have concentrated our efforts around investment, improvement and expanding on what we do well – underpinned by prioritisation, accountability and cost control. As a result I can share that we achieved a surplus after depreciation in 2024.

Overall, this is a satisfactory outcome that strengthens our platform for further growth. But we are sensitive to the challenging economic environment affecting all businesses. We will continue to manage prudently while working steadfastly to improve our services to members, partners and communities.

A final note of thanks goes to our outgoing Chair Mark Whittaker who steps down in July after four years. His intelligent, thoughtful and steadying leadership over this period has done much to enhance the Board’s effectiveness and IWFM’s wider impact.

Our new chair designate, Andrew Hulbert will formally take over the position following the IWFM AGM, having served as Deputy Chair for the past four years. We look forward to delivering on our growth commitment under his leadership.
