The final part of IWFM’s major new series of strategic asset management (SAM) good practice guidance is released today.
Guide 5 – Good practice methods and techniques, is the last in our full 5-part series aimed at workplace and facilities managers (WFMs) with any role in asset management. As a WFM you’re likely to be involved in the management and maintenance of the physical assets themselves, but you may have an increasing role in handling the information that's required throughout the asset lifecycle – from acquisition, daily use and maintenance through to obsolescence and disposal.
In Guide 5 we cover a huge range of methods and techniques:
- Establishing a Golden Thread
- Classifying asset data
- Establishing and implementing an information management framework
- Defining and conducting asset surveys
- Developing maintenance regimes and life cycle plans
- Quality control
- Managing change and future-proofing asset information
The full series, produced in partnership with Amey, is now available free of charge to IWFM members, or they’re available for purchase to non-members from the IWFM website at iwfm.org.uk/samguidance.
