After two years of navigating and supporting members through the many impacts of COVID-19, 2022 was a pivotal and transformative year for IWFM as we applied our learnings to re-imagine what a modern, sustainable, progressive, and value-adding professional body should look like in the post-pandemic era.
You – our members - were central to our thinking and crucial to informing our future direction as you joined us on the journey to ‘Shape the Institute together’. By raising your voice and lending your time and expertise to the process, you helped us to shape real change and realise our ambition for volunteers to have meaningful influence in the Institute’s decision-making.
As we all know, 2022 was another tough year. The cost-of-living consequences that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine made both domestic and business environments exceptionally challenging. Despite these and other challenges, we grew our income by five per cent, retained over 80% of our membership (thank you), welcomed almost 2,500 new members, awarded qualifications to 755 studying members, and continued to build on the proportion of members at professional grades. We did this while making significant investments for IWFM’s future success and maintaining high standards.
In collaboration with partners and expert volunteers, we provided insights, guidance and thought leadership on key topics, empowered FMs to prepare for major changes in fire safety, influenced policy, developed new products and services to enhance FM’s development, engaged members with dozens of events across regions and borders, and much more.

Annual Review 2022
After two years of navigating and supporting members through the many impacts of COVID...
If the pandemic taught us anything, it is that there are no limits to what we can achieve if we are united and combine our efforts toward shared goals. With your continued support, I am certain that we can capitalise on new opportunities together.
Kind regards,
Linda Hausmanis
