IWFM Rising FMs SIG is passionate about supporting the next generation of workplace and facilities management professionals and providing them with advice and support to kickstart their careers. We are delighted to be a part of National Careers Week (7 to 11 March) and can’t wait to help students by conducting mock interviews to put them in good stead for their futures.

Throughout this week, we will be organising 45-minute online interviews with 250 students who attend Highams Park Secondary School in London.

Lisa Chandler, Careers Advisor at Highams Park Secondary School, commented:

‘Every year students in Year 10 at Highams Park School participate in an interview day, where employers come on board to take them through the interview process. The day was due to take place earlier in the school year, but unfortunately due to Covid this was cancelled. With the support of Michelle Brightly and the Rising FM Committee, we talked about a virtual interview day to prevent students missing out this opportunity as they prepare for their future. The timing in National Careers Week embraces the importance of giving students the resources and much needed support as they come to the end of their school years!

‘A big thank you for all who have contributed to make this possible.’

We will use the sessions to discuss students’ CVs, giving them time to showcase their skills and attributes, while our team of volunteers offer advice and tips on how to transition into the world of work.

We have had a fantastic response from you all in helping to make this initiative happen, and we can’t wait to be able to make a difference to secondary school students in helping them to prepare for the future.

We thank everyone that has stepped forward so far to help. Little moments can make a big future and we are proud to support Highams Park School.
