Overview

A third of the UK’s population had been vaccinated at the time of writing, yet still the sense of an uncertain and nervous return to the workplace – offices, mostly – is all pervading. With budgetary pressures looming large, concerns are as focused now on what business restructuring awaits us on our workplace return as it is on the lingering health and safety factors. Recently, politicians and business leaders have weighed in to suggest a less dramatic realignment of home and office working whenever we are all finally post-pandemic. The extent to which they are right – or instead whether newly accepted norms have transformed the picture – is now the great unanswered question of our age.
