So much for ‘normality’. As of October a majority of office workers remain non-office based, commuter train journeys at less than half their pre-pandemic levels. Politicians exhorting workers to return to offices have become less certain, save one who recently complained that, in the 1940s, workers “kept coming to the office – even when Hitler’s bombs were raining down”. Surely, had broadband existed back then, “Stay Home, Protect the Emergency Services, Save Lives” would have been the message? Or possibly ‘Keep Connected and Carry On’ to shield critical British office workers.
