Overview

One conversation I had as we prepared this edition focused on the impact of artificial intelligence now and in the near future. The theme was a loss of specialist FM knowledge applied to deal with an organisation’s case-by-case building service requirements and its replacement with a series of automatically triggered transactions. A case of building service engineers instead becoming merely technicians; intermediaries who oversee the delivery of performance data between a device and its manufacturer, rather than experienced specialists making their own condition assessments and acting upon them.
