The theme of this year’s World FM Day is ‘FM: cultivating belonging through built environments’. The day offers a moment to recognise this and to take pride in the role we play every day. Wednesday 13 May 2026 is an opportunity to recognise the impact of the profession and the people behind it.
Workplace and facilities management supports people, places and communities every day and this year, we’re highlighting how the spaces we design, operate and maintain help people feel connected, supported and able to thrive. It also reflects the importance of belonging within our professional community.
Here are five ways to mark World FM Day 2026 and celebrate WFM in action.
1. Share how WFM creates belonging
Every workplace tells a story about the people who use it. This is a moment to highlight how your work supports inclusion, wellbeing and connection – whether through inclusive design, safe and welcoming environments, or the everyday interventions that enable organisations to function effectively.
Join the conversation by sharing stories or images on social media using #WorldFMDay or #WorldFMDay2026, and tagging @IWFM_UK.
2. Use IWFM’s World FM Day resources
IWFM has developed a World FM Day marketing pack to support individuals and teams in raising awareness of the profession and recognising the role WFM plays across organisations and society.
You can download the resources here.
Whether shared internally or across professional networks, these resources help highlight the value of WFM and the contribution of those working within it.
3. Explore global perspectives on FM strategy
Belonging is shaped by culture, context and leadership. To mark the day, IWFM is sharing a collaboration between the Strategic Leaders Forum (SLF) and Rising FMs, exploring how FM leaders approach strategy in different global contexts.
The recording brings together international perspectives on workplace and facilities strategy, offering insight for professionals at all stages of their careers. Look out for the recording, which will be made available to watch on World FM Day.
4. Follow World FM Day coverage
Facilitate magazine will be marking World FM Day and recognising the profession alongside the wider sector.
Keep an eye on Facilitate for coverage and stories shared across the day as organisations and practitioners come together to acknowledge the impact of WFM.
5. Reconnect with the wider FM community
This is also a chance to reflect on professional belonging beyond individual roles. Connection, shared learning and community are central to the profession.
Engage with IWFM Networks, Regions and SIGs to explore sector commentary, or look ahead to IWFM Live! Use this time to reconnect with the people and communities that support your professional journey.
