World FM Day is a moment to recognise the people who make our workplaces work – and to reflect on the communities that support them. At IWFM, that sense of community sits at the very centre of everything we do.

IWFM is the heart of the workplace and facilities community, and you’ll often hear us talk about belonging. That’s because facilities management is, at its core, a people profession. Wherever you are in your career – from your first role to the boardroom – feeling connected matters. Belonging gives us confidence, perspective and the reassurance that we are not facing challenges alone.

As an IWFM member, you are part of a huge network of fellow professionals at all stages of their careers. That membership connects you to an extraordinary range of expertise, built from real-world experience across every part of the sector. It creates opportunities to meet others who understand your role, to learn from peers, to support colleagues and to share insights that can only come from doing the job.

Belonging is not passive. It is something you build through involvement, conversation and shared purpose. That is why IWFM’s Regions, Networks and Special Interest Groups are so important. They bring people together around place, interest and expertise, creating spaces where members can contribute, listen and learn.

These communities are powerful because they reflect the diversity of our profession. They include different disciplines, career paths and perspectives, all united by a shared commitment to better workplaces and facilities. Through events, discussions and collaboration, they help members stay connected to what matters now – and to what’s coming next.

To celebrate that today, of all days, here's Bernard Crouch CIWFM from our Strategic Leaders Forum, bringing together leading voices from FM from around the world.

On World FM Day, we celebrate facilities management and the people behind it. We also celebrate the connections that sustain our profession every day of the year. IWFM exists to bring the workplace and facilities community together, to provide a home for professional development and shared learning, and to ensure no FM ever feels isolated in their role.

Belonging is fundamental to IWFM membership – it’s what makes our community strong.
