What we’ve reported on

It feels next to inevitable that we we’ll soon be discussing energy crisis cost mitigation measures, but in recent weeks it’s been through ingenuity in renewables that the news has come. Network Rail’s move to poetry its stations and office network through wind farm power is remarkable for its comprehensive nature, while the opportunity for more solar panel retrofitting has made our newsletter pages.

Several service providers have reported their latest financial performance figures and there’s optimism from Sodexo and Mitie despite external factors.

Note too the appointment of service engineering heavyweight Hywel Davies to the Building Safety Regulator’s advisory committee.

What we’re working on

Our new May/June print edition is coming together, within which we’ll be discussing biophilic design, agentic AI, the concept of relational spaces and more. It’s also where many of IWFM’s networks, regions and groups have been commenting on World FM Day’s theme of the built environment cultivating belonging. We’ve also got more on the upcoming IWFM conference in June and we’ll be celebrating the tenth anniversary of one key individual and one invaluable FM network.

If you read one Facilitate piece…

Our colleague Calum Fuller is behind this piece assessing the potential of solar panels. Already benefiting from falling costs, the ease with which they can be retrofitted  - and the rapidly rising costs of fossil fuels due to the war in the Middle East - has given commercial solar power a spotlight.

We’re determined not to shape our future content in a vacuum and we’re constantly querying IWFM’s membership to pick on the themes that matter to you. As ever, that means always want to hear from you, whatever the topic, theme or seemingly insurmountable challenge you think needs further debate. You can find us at [email protected] or via LinkedIn
