Ian Baker

Ian Baker is the Founder and Director of Humans and Places, a consultancy specialising in workplace strategy and the future of work. With over 25 years’ experience in the built environment and a background in property consulting and project management, Ian has been shaping workplaces and human performance strategies since 2015.

Driven by curiosity and a passion for strategy, Ian helps organisations align business goals with the people and places employed to achieve them. Through leadership workshops, seminars and the delivery of bespoke workplace strategies, he supports senior teams to make informed, evidence-based decisions that enhance performance, boost productivity and deliver measurable cost efficiencies.

In 2023, Ian was recognised as one of the UK’s Top 10 Workplace Leaders by The Workplace Event for his contribution to advancing workplace strategy and leadership. He currently serves as Chair of the IWFM Workspace Special Interest Group (SIG) and sits on the drafting panel for BS 8703, a forthcoming British Standard in Workplace Strategy.

David Stevens CEng MBA

David Stevens CEng MBA is a Director of Estates within the NHS and Vice President of CIBSE. A Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience across design, construction, operations, and strategic planning, he is a visible LGBTQI+ leader and mentor within the built environment sector. David chairs both the CIBSE FM Group and LGBTQI+ Panel, co-authored CIBSE Guide M, and has won multiple awards for team leadership and innovation. He is a Fellow of four professional institutions and a strong advocate for inclusion, excellence, and user centred estates delivery.
