24 July 2025
IWFM’s Annual General Meeting took place today (24 July) in Manchester, the second time in the north of England in as many years, and with a great attendance both in person and via Zoom.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and who made the day possible – asking questions, voting on resolutions and contributing to the debate.

A warm welcome goes to our new non-executive directors. Daniel May, CIWFM joins the Board with a range of experience from entry level to senior leadership roles in workplace and facilities management. He is the Founder and Chief Belonging Officer of We Belong, a movement dedicated to EDI. Daniel has also served as Deputy Chair of the Rising FMs Network. He promises to help make sure IWFM stays relevant, resilient and member powered.

And Sharon Slinger CIWFM has more than 20 years’ experience in FM and construction. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Sharon brings commercial, governance, and inclusion expertise to the IWFM NED role. The Founder and Director of Constructing Rainbows Limited, she’s an experienced board member and has been an active volunteer at IWFM for several years championing equity diversity and inclusion via the EDI Focus Group. Sharon promises to bring energy, commitment, and a strong focus on helping IWFM live its values and helping to shape a profession that’s future-ready, inclusive, and recognised for its vital role.
A further welcome goes to the Institute’s newest Fellows. The addition of FIWFM after your name is a mark of a truly accomplished practitioner in our industry, and congratulations go to them all.

And a final welcome goes to our new Chair, Andrew Hulbert, who formally took the reigns from Mark Whittaker as his four-year tenure in the post came to an end today. In his remarks, Mark bid a warm and generous farewell to his colleagues on the IWFM board, but we know this won’t be the last time we work together.
We’ll publish a full account of the AGM very soon.
