What we’ve reported on

Our May/June print edition will be with you today, tomorrow or very soon after with its features on biophilic design, agentic AI, the concept of relational spaces and more, as previously advertised in this space. Elsewhere we’ve written about the Workplace Event in Birmingham, which did its duty in bringing the sector together. Most attendees will agree that the ‘buzz’ about the place was a positive one.

In the news, we continue to see positive results from the major service providers, ISS in particular continuing the glad tidings from outsourcers.

There’s continuing evolution in the office sector with all forms of flexible space becoming more popular and what constitutes quality of workplace an ever more nuanced area of debate.

What we’re working on

Keep an eye out for our World FM Day coverage, which will be spaced out throughout the week and takes as its theme that of World FM Day itself, ‘cultivating belonging through the built environment’.

We’re now working on our next two print editions concurrently, wincluding the edition being produced in conjunction with IWFM’s strategic leaders’ forum. Behind the scenes we’re taking the temperature of the AI market, noting plenty of interest from AI suppliers in FM. But can AI-augmented solutions really help ameliorate something as large as the public sector maintenance cost gap? One thing that seems abundantly clear is that AI helps bring seemingly insurmountable challenges into sharper focus. We’ll have more of this in the weeks ahead.

We’re also looking at different aspects of the estates markets determining the likely future form of facilities from health to education and beyond.

Oh yes, and you’ll know we’re always keen to showcase the work of operational FMs up and down the country in our ’Behind the Job’ interviews. We’re looking for fresh candidates for the months ahead, so please do let us know if you’d like to be a future subject. As ever, for this or anything else you can find us at [email protected] or via LinkedIn

If you read one Facilitate piece…

In our new May/June 2026 print edition, IWFM CEO Linda Hausmanis talks not so much about her ten years in the job - the trigger for the feature - but instead focuses on the way in which IWFM continues to evolve in order to meet the needs of members today.
