IDAHOBIT

This International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, we can break down bias and prejudice, and create a safe and respectful world for everyone, including people of diverse gender identities, gender expressions, sexual orientation, and sex characteristics experience.

Progress is increasingly at risk and actions against this community affect their safety and wellbeing. At IWFM, we are committed to ensuring the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in the workplace, in our communities, and our profession. As allies, it is our role to help raise awareness of the issues LGBTQIA+ people face and amplify their voices.

Our EDI Focus Group assesses our equity, diversity and inclusion data, and feeds into our strategy towards greater inclusion across IWFM, our membership, and our profession. Their work helps us focus on where we can make the greatest impact, breaking down barriers towards greater diversity and inclusion.

We can all act by speaking out against discrimination, providing a safe and inclusive space, or simply listening to and supporting LGBTQIA+ friends and colleagues.

What is IDAHOBIT?

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex people, and all of those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics.

Initially managed by the IDAHO Committee, the initiative is now collectively managed in collaboration between regional and thematic networks. This collaboration brings together organisations and initiatives at global, regional, national, and local levels.
